Keynote Speakers

Many Voices – One People

 

The People’s Expo

 

The Omaha area is composed of so many wonderful communities!  The focus of this Expo is on the following 6 communities:  

 

Women, Black, Native American, Immigrant, LGBTQIA+ and Student

 

There will be a Shared Keynote with a local speaker chosen by each of these 6 communities.

 

Following the Shared Keynote speeches, each speaker will have a 40 minute follow-up discussion.

Dr. Deborah Ann Turner was selected by local women’s organizations and leaders to speak during the shared keynote.  Also, Dr. Turner will lead a 40 minute follow-up discussion/presentation.

Frank LaMere was selected by local Native American organizations and leaders to speak during the shared keynote.

Also, Frank will lead a 40 minute follow-up discussion/presentation. Mr. LaMere will participate through video-conferencing.

Danita Webb was selected by local black organizations and leaders to speak during the shared keynote.

Also, Danita will lead a 40 minute follow-up discussion/presentation.

Andrew Aleman was selected by local LGBTQIA+ organizations and leaders to speak during the shared keynote.

Also, Andrew will lead a 40 minute follow-up discussion/presentation.

Isrrael Garcia, Jr., of the Immigrant Legal Center, will speak on immigrantion during the shared keynote.

Emily Galas, also of the Immigrant Legal Center,  will lead a 40 minute follow-up discussion/presentation - "Immigration 101."

For their part of the shared keynote the Omaha Students Union (OSU) will present a "slam poetry" piece developed around the issue of gun violence, its impacts and the need for action.
